LeBron’s streak ended last night — and it’s the best reminder of what real leadership looks like.
Everyone woke up this morning talking about Netflix’s deal for Warner-Discovery, but there’s another surprising, overlooked event that caught my attention: last night, LeBron James’ double-digit scoring streak, extending back 1,297 games (back to before there were iPhones!), was broken. With 4 seconds left, he had the ball in his hand and could’ve taken a shot, but instead, he did something that most would consider unthinkable:
He passed up the shot, so the team could win.
No stat padding
No legacy chasing
Just the right decision at the right moment.
And honestly?
I find it amazing that he still has the power to impress and surprise me. But that’s the kind of unselfishness that builds great teams — on the court and at work.
In business, the people who excel long-term aren’t the ones who chase every spotlight.
They’re the ones who:
1️⃣ Share information instead of hoarding it
2️⃣ Pass along opportunities that aren’t the right fit
3️⃣ Let others take the shot when it’s theirs to make
4️⃣ Prioritize the win, not the résumé line
5️⃣ Raise the team’s floor, not just their own ceiling
Some of the most successful leaders have one thing in common:
-> They’re unselfish thinkers.
They care about clarity, accuracy, and helping the whole group get better — not just polishing their own metrics.
LeBron didn’t lose anything by ending that streak, he continued to build his legacy.
Greatness isn’t just scoring.
Greatness is knowing when to pass.
Have a great weekend y'all!
